It's OK to Slow Down
My house is small. Oftentimes, small houses are described as cozy - but as an expert in coziness, I can tell you, it's not the same thing.
This morning, the smallness had hit my threshold and I went on a decluttering spree through literally every room in - and outside - the house (the shed still needs more work). As I was bringing some porch clutter inside to put away, I tripped and fell up the steps, witnessed by a neighbour out walking her dog. I was embarrassed, sore, and suddenly aware that I was tired. This was my cue: okay Nicky, time to slow down.
I've been trying to remind myself of this when working on my business too. Over the last 7 weeks, I've spent most of my free time, just about every day, working on patterns, or my Instagram feed, or this website. I love it and I'm passionate about it, so I am happy that I've been able to maintain this momentum. But there has to be a balance.
I am thankful to find that balance in knitting the sample for my new design. It's a sweater in stockinette with lace sleeves. Which means I was able to spend a good part of the weekend working away at the stockinette - feeling productive while at the same time relaxing with something relatively mindless. It forced me to slow down, just when I needed it.
