About Nicky
I have been knitting and crocheting for over 30 years. In 2018 I took a leave from my career as an x-ray technologist to start a family, and became interested in learning to design my own knitting patterns. I enrolled in Aroha Knits' SWATCH course for designers. Pattern publications in Interweave Knits and Knit Now Magazine soon followed.

Living in Toronto, Canada at that time, I enrolled in Kate Atherley's brioche classes at Yarns Untangled and managed to work up the courage to introduce myself as a fledgling designer. Since meeting Kate, I have contributed to both Outlander Knitting and her newest project, Digits & Threads.

In 2019, I branched out further by enrolling in The Tech Editor Hub's Learn To Tech Edit course, followed by their Masterclass in Grading. I love editing and grading for clients - I have always thrived on collaboration and enjoy working with different designers. I learn something new from every project.

In the summer of 2020 I had the good fortune to meet Renee Van Hoy and became involved in co-creating the Accessible Patterns Index, a directory of knitting, crochet, and loom knitting patterns formatted to remove barriers for people with a variety of disabilities.

I have since left the city and happily continue to design, provide technical editing, pattern grading, and now accessible formatting services for clients, to learn everyday, and to embrace whatever interesting projects come my way. Contact me to collaborate.
