Free Pattern - Rainbow Ripple Scarf

Hello friends!

Although it's a dark and rainy day, and there's still snow on the ground, I can feel spring on the horizon and I am so ready for it!

This time of year calls for a bright and cheerful project. Recently when I was out shopping with my daughter, some vibrant neon craft yarn called out to us, and we had to answer the call.

I decided to create a super simple crochet scarf that was a perfect road trip project for March Break. This scarf was worked on the bias by increasing and decreasing at either end of every row. Working into the third loop creates a ribbed effect. Once desired length is reached (I made mine 48 inches / 120 cm for a double-wrapped cowl), the two diagonal ends are seamed or slip-stitched together. This creates a number of ways to wear:

Video description: Nicky holds up a neon rainbow scarf and wraps it flat around her neck, then doubles it over to create a cowl.

The yarn is Red Heart Super Saver, which in my eyes is better suited to household items like throws or toys for its durability and relative stiffness, but in this case, it was the colour that sold us. This project would be perfect for your favourite squishy worsted, and only needed 200 grams for a 48-inch / 120 cm cowl. Tag your version #RainbowRippleScarf, I would love to see it!

CONSTRUCTION

The width of the scarf is created using a foundation double crochet row. Each row is worked in half double crochet in the 3rd loop with an increase and decrease at either end to create a bias shape. The two diagonal ends are then seamed or slip stitched together to create a long cowl.
