Garden Path Top

Are you ready for spring? I can tell you one thing, I am more than ready to move past winter. Hygge helps, but after a month of -20C temperatures here in Ontario, I'm looking forward to sunshine and getting back outside.

I designed this top in collaboration with WeCrochet last summer and it was a terrific experience. I had been eyeing Knit Picks CotLin Reflections yarn for ages & was so excited to finally have a chance to work with it. The colour palette was made for me - white, sky blue, and indigo in a variety of speckled and tonal colourways.

This was actually my first time designing a crochet pattern! Although I've been crocheting for more than 20 years, I was still a bit nervous to design in my "second language" (knitting being my mother tongue). And even moreso when I learned that the incredible Tian Connaughton would be my tech editor! But the process was super smooth and fun. I had a great sample crocheter who also helped a ton to make sure my instructions were clear and complete.

A fun surprise for me was seeing that WeCrochet chose different colours for the sample than I had, and they turned out gorgeous! I had chosen a high contrast classic, indigo stripes on a white background (with a hint of sky blue speckles) - WeCrochet chose instead to make the stripes the same colour as the speckles and it came out absolutely dreamy.

This pattern is available as a kit on crochet.com. The kit feature allows you to choose your size and yarn colours and automatically populates the amount of yarn you'll need. If you're looking for CotLin in tonal and speckled options, you'll find it on the Knit Picks website, and at time of writing, it's half price!

The pattern is also part of the Terrace Collection eBook, full of beautiful lacey spring designs, and is available now! Here's more from the collection:
