Chasm Shawlette Knitting Pattern

Very pleased to announce I have a new pattern coming out this Friday - the Chasm Shawlette!

This pattern is very special for a few reasons. For one, it marks my return to designing after a long break. The birth of my daughter has changed my life in more ways than I ever expected, and as much as I enjoy my new life, it was mixed with some loss of identity. Being able to get back to designing was very affirming for me that there is still some of my old self in there.

The second special thing about this pattern is my partnership with Seismic Yarn & Dyeworks of Daly City, California, that made it possible. I love this yarn! It is SO so soft and squishy, and an absolute joy to work with. The colourway, called Winter is Here, is absolutely perfect with the glacial inspiration for this design. And networking and collaborating with Eva, the dyer and owner of Seismic, has been such a great experience. It is my first collaboration with a dyer and was a great experience.

This pattern is a mini shawl that, when wrapped and buttoned, can be worn as a cozy, squishy cowl. It knits up super fast in beautiful bulky extrafine merino superwash. I chose this stitch pattern, a lace zigzag on a background of garter stitch, because it reminded me of the deep crevasses in glaciers that break up the snowy white surface with the most incredible vivid blue from the mineral rich glacial ice beneath.

This pattern continues to be available for free to my subscribers. Join my mailing list at the bottom of this page to receive the pattern. It is also available for purchase, ad-free, on Payhip, including a low vision formatted pdf with fully written instructions, 24 point Black sans serif font, no columns, no italics.
